A maltese cross brass and enamel badge with hinge pin and "C" clasp measuring approximately 4.5cm x 4.5cm. Markings to the reverse for "Ges Gescutz" and "C.H. Arnold, Coburg". Shows surface wear. Of Note: The Mackensen Honour Cross was instituted in 1918 by the Military Union of German Cavalry, a post-war union founded under the patronage of Generalfeldmarschall Anton Ludwig August von Mackensen. The I Class badge was awarded to individuals who served in the Germany Cavalry during the First World War and were already a recipient of the Iron Cross. These badges were awarded between 1928 and 1933.
