G002693 PROPAGANDA POSTCARD "DER KRIEG IN CHINA."

Rare patriotic postal card with a stereotypical depiction of Chinese statesman Li-Hung Tschang, two German warships, and two German Imperial Sailors on the right in front of the tricolor Imperial black-white-red national flag. A 4-line poem in German is in the lower right threatening Li-Hung Tschang (Li Hongzhang, Marquess Suyi, February 15, 1823 – November 7, 1901). Li-Hung Tschang was a Chinese statesman, general and diplomat of the late Qing dynasty. He quelled several major rebellions and served in important positions in the Qing imperial court, including the Viceroy of Zhili, Huguang and Liangguang. Ethnographic political material like this supporting the German colony at Tsingtao is quite rare. Fine overall condition with age-rounded corners.
