G000391 AUSTRIAN "EMPEROR KARL" BRONZE BRAVERY MEDAL.
A 30mm diameter medallion bears the right facing image of Emperor Karl in uniform while surrounded by the words "CAROLVS D.G .IMP AVST.REX BOH . ETC ET REX APOST HVNG". Below the shoulder of the image of the emperor is the designer’s name KAUTSCH (Heinrich Kautsch). The reverse features the word "FORTITVDINI" (Bravery) surrounded by wreath. The medal is suspended by an original ribbed silk "tri-fold" ribbon. Of Note: The Bravery Medals awarded for 1915-1916 bore the image of Emperor Franz Joseph I, while awards made in 1917-1918, bore the image of Emperor Karl I.
