G000293 BUGLE/SIGNAL TRUMPET.

A brass body with silver-plated horn rim. Marked "Schuster & Co. Markneukirchen." Markneukirchen is a town in the Vogtlandkreis district, in Saxony, Germany, close to the Czech border, in the Elster Mountains. Around the time of WW1, the German language was officially modified by convention to replace most hard C’s with K’s (Cologne for example became Köln). This instrument can be dated to the period around 1900 because the naming convention of businesses at this time "& Companie" was phased out. With brass rings for attaching a shoulder strap, necessary with military instruments but not orchestra instruments. Scarce.
