BACKGROUND:
Introduced in 1887 and officially designated as a haversack this canvas pouch was designed for carrying rations, field cutlery utensils and personal items, and was most commonly referred to as the breadbag.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A wartime, canvas constructed breadbag. The two small leather tabs and d-rings that are normally on the back upper corners are missing, but other than that looks all complete. Nice makers stamp. Shows the expected age and use.
