H041983 COMBAT RUCKSACK. (Rucksack)

BACKGROUND: During the war, the early M34 and M39 "pony fur" backpacks were found to be costly and time consuming to produce, which resulted in the introduction of a wide variety of less expensive, canvas construction rucksacks. Many of these came in two versions, one having integral shoulder straps, the other without them, the latter intended for wear with the combat Y-straps.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: An olive drab canvas rucksack. Pretty much all complete and in nice condition. The eight small leather strips from the top flap have been removed. Nicely maker marked and dated for 1943. Nice worn and used example showing the expected age and wear.
