H030388 VENEREAL DISEASE PREVENTION KIT.

As have all armies over the centuries, the German Army of WWII struggled to prevent significant numbers of its soldiers from becoming unfit for duty and hospitalized because of venereal diseases, which often removed more young men from the front lines than bullets. This is a WWII German issue personal venereal disease prevention kit in a small cardboard box with instructions printed on the lid, containing a tube of ointment and a glass vial of some disinfectant fluid (now evaporated). After a visit to a prostitute, the soldier was instructed to treat himself with these medications to prevent the spread of syphilis or gonorrhea. Very few of these survived the war for obvious reasons! The box measures approximately 2.5cm x 4cm x 8.5cm . Staining to the cardboard.
