H030186 MOUNTED MEDICAL PERSONNEL'S POUCH. (Sanitätstasche)
BACKGROUND: Each Division in the German Army of WWII had Divisional Support units which included a medical unit that normally consisted of two companies, a field hospital and two ambulance platoons. Within these medical units EM’s and Junior NCO’s with basic medical training acted as medical orderlies or stretcher bearers under the command of doctor’s with officer’s ranks. Molded light brown leather construction pouch for mounted medical personnel.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The pouch is roughly, 24cm tall, 19cm wide and 7cm thick. The obverse of the pouch has dual compartments with the upper compartment having a dual-ply, horizontal fold over top flap with a stitched hinge to the front center and two riveted on closure straps with corresponding natural aluminum closure studs. The lower compartment opens vertically and also has a stitched hinge and two riveted on closure straps with corresponding natural aluminum closure studs. Maker marked and dated for 1942.
