A German Board Game Deutschland Braucht Kolonien ("Germany Needs Colonies). Very rare surviving example of the board game by the famous German toy and game company Hausser Spiele in excellent condition. In the 1930’s, a German political movement sought to regain Germany’s colonial possessions confiscated after WWI. The first line of the game description inside the lid reads (in German) "In Versailles, through force and lies, our colonies were stolen from us." The game is intended to educate German children about the former colonies and their economic value to the Third Reich. Excellent condition, one of very few surviving examples. Appears to be complete. The two piece, cardboard constructed box measures approximately 4cm x 30cm x 41.5cm.
