H021495 GENERAL OFFICER RANKS COLLAR TABS. (Kragenspiegel)
BACKGROUND: Officer’s with General ranks from Generalmajor to Generalfeldmarschall were accorded distinctive collar tabs on March 22ND 1900, that were based on uniform ornamentation of the 26TH Prussian Infantry Regiment, Alt Larisch of the 1800's. These "Larisch" pattern collar tabs were utilized through out WWI, the Weimar Reichswehr era and on into the Third Reich. Originally these "Larisch" pattern collar tabs were all produced with gilt bullion ornamentation until regulations of July 15TH 1938 permitted the use of golden yellow celleon threads for the ornamentation. Regulations of April 3RD 1941 introduced a new, slightly elongated, pattern collar tab for the rank of Generalfeldmarschall with additional ornamentation. The ranks of Generalmajor to Generaloberst continued wear of the shorter "Larisch" collar tabs for the duration of WWII.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Very nice pair of General ranks collar tabs with a red wool base and hand embroidered Arabesque style "Larisch" pattern in gilt bullion and golden yellow celleon. Larisch pattern consists of two, triple pointed prongs with decorative arrow head shaped ornamentation near forward edge and flared tail shaped decoration near rear edge. Collar tabs are mounted on a tan buckram backing.
