BACKGROUND: Along with the numerous field command and unit flags utilized by the German army were specific directional flags used at field headquarters to indicate the location of key services such as medical and signals posts. Of Note: See Paul Carell’s book "Operation Barbarosa in Photographs", page 92, for a photographic example of one of these flags in use.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Painted, wooden directional sign is roughly 42cm in length. Original hanging loops still present. Couple of nail holes. The letter "F" indicates either, Fernsprecherstelle, (Telephone Station), or Funkstelle (Wireless Radio Station).
