H007395 M24 STICK GRENADE BAG. (Stielhandgranate M24 Beutel)

BACKGROUND: The high explosive, concussion, M24 stick grenade was a modification of the WWI German M1915 stick grenade and was to become the most common grenade used by Germany during WWII. Modifications of the M24 resulted in the longer M39 grenade in 1939 and the M43 grenade with a different fuze insertion configuration in 1943. Special assault bags where designed for use by Paratroopers, Engineers and other Assault troops. The bags where designed to carry 5 grenades each and where attached in pairs by two straps.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Luftwaffe production M24 stick grenade bag. This is one side only, you can see where the two attachment straps have been cut and then sewn together. Olive drab canvas construction, roughly 47cm x 22 cm. White, bakelite "Ri Ri", zipper closure. Unmarked. Rare.
