H003895 MG34 MUZZLE FLASH HIDER CONTAINER. (Mündungsfeuerdämpfer Blechbüchse) 

BACKGROUND: As with most automatic weapons both the MG34 selective fire and the MG42 automatic fire, general purpose machine guns were equipped with a muzzle flash hider to conceal the flash that discharged from the muzzle when the weapon was fired. The muzzle flash hider came with a protective container and was a component of the Universalkasten 34, (Universal Case 34), kit. 

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly 14cm tall, 50mm diameter, cylindrical, blued, tooled steel, construction MG34 flash hider container. The container has a screw off top lid with diamond patterned grooves to the outside edge for ease of handling. The interior of the container still has a cardboard washer intact.
